Underground Spotlight: Ryder
Written by Brett Kihlmire
Hard rock is one of those styles that just hasn’t gotten enough love from the metal community lately. Of course, we all know that hard rock can kick some serious ass too and New York natives, Ryder, are living proof.
Though the band lacks an official album, EP, or single, I got my hands on a live recording of ‘Do or Die.’ Despite fuzzy recording quality Ryder’s hard rock attitude and flare shined through the haze. Rocking the house with heavy beats, strong riffs and rhythms, and soaring clean vocals, this band is definitely something I can groove to. I was especially blown away by the shreddy guitar solo and the lead singer’s no nonsense attitude when addressing the crowd. Least to say, I can see this band churning out some seriously good hard rock music in the near future. That being said, I’m eagerly awaiting their first single or even a demo.
For more information on Ryder check back for the full feature article coming soon. As always we’ll be talking with the band regarding their past, present, and future. For now, check out this video, but bear with us here; it’s from a different show and doesn’t do the band as much justice as the recording that I had received. Regardless, here’s a look at the song in question –‘Do or Die.’
