The rock goddesses are back. Rock Goddess was founded by the two sisters, Jody and Julie Turner in 1977, in the era of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) when the girls were then 13 and 9 years old (Source Wikipedia). Until their breakup in 1987, the band produced three albums and several singles. In the mid-nineties, there was a first attempt to reanimate the band. Since March 2013 Rock Goddess are back together in their original line-up. But it took another three years for the trio to finish the comeback EP It’s More Than Rock And Roll.

After so much time away the ladies pick up almost exactly where they left off 30 years ago with straight played primeval rock / metal of the eighties with a touch of punk, without any frills. Classic guitar solos and riffs that fully kick-ass is what you’re going to get, and I have no doubt these ladies can play their instruments blindfolded. The video for the outstanding title song ‘It’s More Than Rock And Roll’ can be viewed on YouTube – it is not only listening but also worth seeing. This is actually more than just Rock’n Roll, here is the clear announcement, “We’re all metal”!

With their new EP the Rock Goddesses arrange themselves next to bands such as Girlschool or the unfortunately defunct Crucified Barbara. Let’s hope that the current reunion is of longer duration and Rock Goddess will soon release a full-length album. Also, I would be very happy about live performances. As for the EP, I give it s a solid 8/10
